Valentine’s Day

Gifts are often given to loved ones on Valentine’s Day, ranging from flowers, jewellery and teddies. I asked three people which gift would be their preferred Valentine’s gift, Cliodhna Cartin said flowers, specifically roses and Ava Gardiner and Amy Staunton both said teddies would be their gift of choice.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated in many forms, may that be the traditional form of sharing it with a partner or the ever-growing celebration of ‘Galentine’s’. Galentine’s Day has become very popular, particularly with younger people who want to celebrate, Cliodhna Cartin, told me “I’d rather have a ‘Galentines’, I’m young- I don’t want to be tied down and it just feels so much more fun.”

Ava Gardiner said, “Galentines all the way, it’s just a bit of fun really and I love it. I think there’s just something so empowering about making this day into a day for your girls.”

‘Galentine’s Day’ is a true celebration of the important female friendships that women have and helps bring a new meaning to a day which can leave many women feeling lonely and unwanted.
